Reddit is a collection of communities with different rules, norms, vocabulary, and tolerance for promotion. The publishing decision begins with whether the contribution belongs in a specific community, not with how to reuse a campaign caption.
Current BlendDuck publishing contract
BlendDuck currently creates a text post or link post in one selected subreddit. A valid community name is required and is normalized without the optional r/ prefix. Community names use three to twenty-one letters, numbers, or underscores.
Every post requires a title of up to 300 characters. A text post supports a body of up to 40,000 Unicode characters. A link post requires a valid destination URL and may publish without body text. The current contract does not publish image or video posts, threads, or hashtags to Reddit.
Technical validity does not imply community permission. Subreddit rules, account standing, flair requirements, post-type restrictions, and moderator decisions remain authoritative.
Research the community before writing
Read the rules, pinned posts, recurring questions, moderator notices, and several recent successful discussions. Identify whether links, surveys, customer research, hiring, self-promotion, or brand participation are restricted. Record the rule check and date because community policies change.
Define why this community specifically benefits from the post. A product launch is not automatically relevant. A transparent technical breakdown, lessons from a failure, a useful dataset, or a direct answer to a recurring problem may be relevant when it respects the rules.
Decide who will participate after publication. Reddit users often evaluate the author's replies as closely as the opening post. If the team cannot answer reasonable questions or acknowledge limitations, postpone the post.
Write the title, body, or link honestly
The title should make the subject and value clear without disguising the brand relationship. Avoid false urgency, unsupported superlatives, or a question that the body never answers. Name the audience or condition when the lesson is narrow.
For a text post, provide enough context for the community to evaluate the claim without leaving Reddit. Use headings and short paragraphs for long explanations. Separate direct evidence, interpretation, and unanswered questions. Link to sources where permitted.
For a link post, make sure the destination fulfills the title, loads on mobile, and does not hide the core information behind an unexpected form or paywall. Disclose affiliation and commercial interest plainly. Never imitate an independent recommendation when the publisher represents the product.
Approval, publishing, and moderation
Approval should bind the subreddit, post type, title, body or URL, disclosure, source set, and response owner. A different subreddit is a different publishing context and should not inherit approval automatically.
Before sending, confirm the current community rules, account identity, title length, destination URL, factual claims, customer information, rights, privacy, and timezone. Save the approved version and planned moderation window.
After publishing, verify the live URL and rendered post. Monitor moderator actions and substantive replies. Do not argue with removal or evade rules by reposting. If a fact is wrong, correct it transparently. If the request state is unknown, check provider evidence before retrying.
Measure contribution quality
Upvotes alone are incomplete. Review question quality, useful replies, referral behavior, qualified research insight, moderation outcome, and the cost of participation. A smaller discussion with knowledgeable responses can be more valuable than broad but hostile visibility.
Record the community, rule conditions, title pattern, disclosure, discussion themes, outcome, and next action. The learning should improve future participation, not become a recipe for extracting attention from every subreddit.
